Four Months.
Back in March when Connor's night terrors took a drastic turn we immediately made an appointment with our Pediatrician who in turn suggested we see a Pediatric Neurologist. We did our research and made our appointment right away and the earliest we could be seen was July 31. We waited 4 months to see this doctor.
I got to the appointment early knowing that we were new patients and that there would be paper work. They called us into the back 30 minutes before my appointment was even scheduled. I was pleasantly shocked! They did the normal measurements and Connor came in at 31 pounds and 40.5 inches. I always giggle at the surprise from the technicians as to how tall Connor is for his age.
We waited a bit to see the Doctor but it was well worth it. She was wonderful. She could not get over how smart Connor was. He sat there telling her letters she wrote down, whether they were capital or lower case, and even sounded out the letters for B-A-T. The Doctor was beside herself. She kept trying to get me to understand that he is highly intelligent, and I tried to get her to understand that we know...he's scary smart. She was also surprised at how verbal he is, considering he strings 8 and 9 word sentences together complete with noun, verbs and adjectives, and she typically sees children with speech delays. He was able to describe to her that he doesn't like to sleep and that he would rather go to Disney World. Ha! But in the end she agrees that he has a sleep disorder and they will be scheduling our sleep study to take place at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
While she was looking him over and doing the physical check-up she looked over at Tim and I and said "you know about his heart murmur" very matter of factly. When she saw our faces it turned more into a question. I think my eyes teared up right away. No, no we didn't know he had a heart murmur, this is the first time anyone has said anything about it. So aside from the sleep study we will also be having an appointment with a Pediatric Cardiologist in the near future. I'm trying not to let my mind wander, and I am certainly not going to research it on the internet, I'm scared enough as it is.
We left our appointment with answers and even more questions to be answered by other doctors. Connor of course got a milkshake!
Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Update: met with the Cardiologist Saturday morning. His EKG looked great and after the sonogram the doctor said it is a level 1 heart murmur. That he will most likely grow out of it and there is nothing to worry about, not even a follow up appointment. We even spotted a hidden Mickey on his heart. God is so good, praise the Lord!
Thank you everyone who prayed for him and then cheered with us. The extent of the comments and encouragement well surpassed expectations. Connor is dearly loved, and for that I am truly grateful.
